TEASING AND STUFFING
You may find that you need to tease (or “backcomb”)a wig in order for it to have the amount of volume you desire. Lightly teasing hair can also be a good way to fix roller breaks. To tease the hair, begin with a small section.Use your tease the hair , begin with a roller breads.Use your teasing/smoothing brush to comb the hair downwards toward the scalp while you continue to grip the section of hair.
Repeat the process until all of the hair in the section is packed down near the scalp. Spritz with hairspray, and then move to the next section. It is important to be spraying the hair constantly with hairspray as you work.If you only spray the outermost layer, the teased hair inside and underneath will collapse and not give you the look you want. Once you have finished teasing the hair, smooth the top section so the hairstyle looks neat. Use your teasing/smoothing brush to just lightly brush the top layer of hair in the direction of the final style.Finish with aerosol hairspray.
If the hairstyle you are trying to achieve requires a huge amount of tease to get the volume you want, it may make more sense to use a rat instead. A rat is any sort of hair pad or stuffing.
You can buy premade rats or make your own. You can make a rat by collecting loose bits of hair, forming it into a ball, and wrapping a hairnet around it several times. To use the rat, pull the hair away from the area you want the rat and bobby-pin the rat to your wig where you desire volume.Form X-shapes with your pins to firmly anchor the rat in place.Lightly tease the hair that is going to lie on top of the rat and smooth it over. Pin the hair over the rat so that it stays hidden,Finish with hairspray.
WIRE FRAMES
Some historical hairstyle are so large than mere teasing or stuffing will still not yield you the results that you want. In these cases, It may be better to build a wire frame to attach to your wig. You can then dress the hair over the frame and easily achieve a great deal of height or width. The frame will also allow your wig to be lightweight on your performer`s head.
Frame is so important for a wig and it`s up to wigs basic structure.
